2018. Solo exhibition at the Peninsula Shopping Centre, Singapore, I_S_L_A_N_D_S. Curated by Tan Pey Chuan. Singapore Art Week program.
The exhibition of drawings took place in 8 retail windows that lined a passageway connecting two of Singapore's oldest shopping malls. The work extends the Imaginary Homeland series, and its exhibition title is Chinese dialect Hokkien in Dutch spelling. "Kang ouw", literally “rivers and lakes”, refers to a realm where swordsmen roam and fight, in the name of honour. It is a territory that is marked not with geographical lines but in the minds of its actors; a psychological, action-packed space created in wuxia, the Chinese diasporic cinema that the artist grew up with in the early 1980s.
